Common deer hunting violations

Common deer hunting violations

Big Antlers, Big Pride, Big Trophy

Before you go all gun blazing into a ranch for a deer hunting adventure, We want you to consider the following violations that could land you in trouble.

There are many sites & blog posts which tell you Do’s and Don’ts of Deer hunting but very less talk about these hunting violations:

No hunter education certificate:

Every hunter needs to have an education certificate who is born on or after Sept. 1, 1971. You must take & pass this hunter education program which is state approved.

Deer not properly tagged:

This comes under the field dressing post harvest. Use a knife or scissors to cut out the date of harvest, then use an ink pen to write the appropriate information on the tag.

Harvest log violation

Use your pen to copy down the tag information on to the hunting license harvest log which is printed on the back of your license.

Untagged deer

As soon as you recover your hunt, deer, you must tag it with the appropriate hunting license tag. Tape or wire or some other means of attaching the tag to the carcass must be included in your hunting gear.

Hunting without a license

Hunting without a license is a felony and could attract penalties. Every hunter, regardless of age, must have a hunting license and should be carried all the time during hunting. You will be fined $200-$2000 & have your hunting privileges revoked for at least one year.

Please keep the above points in mind while going on hunting in Texas & we hope for you to carry home a good harvest.
